Midnight Madness

Midnight Madness is continuing the madness each month minus Apple May. The event will be led by one of the lead contributers, xxSaltandPepperxx. All information, links, and lists will be available on her site. Please click here for more info.

... having a limited number of gifts that will be given out means one important thing. There WILL be people who do not make it there in time to pick up that gift. We are doing everything we can to both balance the exclusivity of the gift along with making sure there is a fair chance for everyone. If the gift you were wanting has reached it's cap by the time you make it there, please remember there will always be another round and another chance! By hounding the store owners or making ungrateful demands you might just chase them out of the event and miss any future chance for a gift again. With such an amazing group of designers,  let's not do that.

All that being said we are already looking forward to the next round and I hope to see you there!

  1. Please consider making the boards only respond to the group's tag going forward. With so many people having shown themselves to be vicious little beasts after missing out on the last round, it seems as if you are going to need some method by which to ban those who insist upon making things ugly for everyone else involved.

    1. Thank you for your suggestion! We are implenting as many ways as possible to 'blacklist' those who wish to bring the good spirit of the event down.

    2. I see that as a terrible idea, unless you make them accessible only with the monthly midnight madness tag.........because that's nearly 30 groups we would need to free up in our groups list and most people's are nearly full to begin with. Perhaps using the MMM tag would be helpful as you can boot and block any abusive people from that group to moderate it. Just my input but I think it would be unfair to use this as a method of forcing people to join your store group.

    3. That's exactly what I meant, hence the "group's" instead of "groups'". Punctuation is magical like that.

    4. Oh, I only just saw your snippy and catty reply. ^^ Funny thing, punctuation and all it could still mean for each individual group's tag. First round a good few of the vendors made their boards so they only worked if you had each GROUP'S tag. ^^ See what I did there? No need to be a snippy twit. :3

    5. Sereh Farron I agree with you that those that are in the MidnightMadness group does this apply ~ good suggestion

    6. Drea - Just saw it? You mean an hour after I made it? Also, a complete inability to take context into consideration and apply logic means that our exchange has come to an end; I'm not interested in hand-holding and I lack the patience to educate.

YKW - Fortunately, it likely won't prove necessary. People were much, much better last month (unless there was more abuse of creators behind the scenes nonsense) and everything went very well. With luck, this will continue and everyone will have a good time.

Or as good of a time as one can have while half-asleep in the middle of the night. Zzzzz. Get your engines ready!

    8. What do you mean "abuse of creators behind the scenes nonsense"
I have never actually participated in the event - it sounds a little scary

  2. For the large event it was all of the boards breaking but im sure this round will be smoother in all honestly i dont think there is any way of stopping the rude people from being rude .MM is usually no group needed i dont think groups will stop people from loosing their minds hopefully this will be alot easier this time , looking forward to it :)

    1. Thank you!

And yes, the event is intended with out the need of being in a particular group. Though I do suggest being in the official Monthly Midnight Madness group.

  3. I love the idea of this, however, I also think that due to time zones, it's quite unfair for people living in other countries. By the time they log on, the limit has been long reached thus leaving many without an opportunity to grab the wonderful and generous gifts. I for one am not willing to wake up at 2 in the morning.
I would suggest doing what was done when the boards broke. Just implementing it as a one day only gift. It gives everyone a chance of getting it.

    1. I think exactly the same. I think that, perhaps, should be 24h, and 12h not, so we can all reach on time those gifts. I live in Spain and also gave me time to have none.

  4. I agree with GranPet Epp, When the event starts, many are at work in Europe. How about swapping it to a Saturday-event, it would be more fair for other parts of the world.

  5. I was up till 5am last time then went to work at 7am. Just cause you aren't willing to be up doesn't mean others aren't.

    2. I chose my words a bit wrong.Everyone wants those generous gifts, and are certainly willing to be up, however, it most often a case of not being able to. Everyone's lives and schedules are different, I am simply suggesting all things be taken into account.

    3. I got what you meant Gran, If you are at work during the time that the event start, you cant just log onto the game. My work would kill me if I pulled up Second Life in the middle of my workday - I mean assuming they didn't have a block on it already.

    4. Kaitlyn, some of us are not willing to throw away our $100k+/yr jobs just for a virtual object that will not be worth anything more 100 years from now than it the day it comes out.

  6. Honestly, if something is limited, I dont even bother - my schedule is just not open enough to compete :(

  7. My RL husband would kill me if I woke up in the middle of the night to get on the computer. LOL. I too think there maybe should be half of the items put out and the other half later on to give people in different time zones a chance to participate. TY for all the gifts. I am truly appreciative for your effort to provide this to us. :)

  9. I just want to thank all the designers who participated. The gifts were lovely and generous. Most of us understand there will be issues when such a huge event takes place...and we keep our mouths shut and hope for next time. Thank you all again. Hugs!!

  10. I also want to thank the designers for the beautiful and generous gifts. The gifts are soooo nice, I wonder if they could be available to purchase after the limit on free items is reached? Maybe they could be put out for sale the day after Midnight Madness. That way, people who missed the free item could still have one if they were willing to pay for it, and the designer could make some extra money from the items. Just an idea! <3

    1. At the moment how it is set up is that the designers can put out a recolor of an existing item that will not be sold in store OR they can put out an entirely new item that can be sold in stores afterwards.

So it's a bit of both

  11. It's free, it's limited, and it's once a month, taking all of that in to account I think 12 hours is long enough for most people to get it. Not everyone's going to be happy no matter the day or time you pick just accept it. The only problem I have with this event is the limited number you want to give out because all these sims fill up fast and it's very hard to get there even with the help of a tp HUD before everything's gone.

    1. I'm hoping with recent changes to the event it will be a bit easier to get in. This event is still a work in progress and some changes are already in the works for the April round which should make it even easier to have a chance at getting the gifts (hopefully!).

  12. I thoroughly enjoyed the event, even the mistakes. It was amazing to see all the checks and balances in play along with the roar of the crowds. It was EPIC the swan songs of those that had gathered their goods singing their thank you served to infuriate those that couldn't get in and couldn't stand hearing about what they had missed. Oh the gnashing of teeth and rock throwing vs the angelic harpists while the designers were pulled and twisted an offered as sacrifices to the maddening crowd. Best show I've seen in a while. I can't wait !!!

  13. Awww, I just discovered this event, but unfortunately due to my work schedule will not be able to participate at all, for one when it starts I am working and secondly, because I work until 10pm until 6am, I will be sleeping when it restarts 12 hours later, before I turn around and work again, I only work the two days and it happens to be these two :(

  14. Very interesting idea! Thank you for it. But it is very inconvenient time, which I was able to catch a little and get a gift, only where it was given just without vote. And a lot of people is my Inet falls ...

  15. So excited for this round! Last time around even with hang ups the creators were so amazingly sweet with all of the awesome gifts! I'm gonna be up all night waiting for it to start! :D Thanks for coordinating this!

  16. I really like this event and to be honest I think the way the event is/was made it's perfect but working with people is never easy. Some are going into sims with hours before the event even open just to be there and make the sim full so others don't get in, which is rude. Me to be honest, I looked first on the site to see if I really need something from all the gifts, because why to take something that you don't need only to get it and someone don't? And in some MM's board I was late and I walked away but I didn't tried to ask the designer or get crazy about it because it's rude, when someone gives you something for free and you act like crazy then you don't deserve that and we shouldn't be so mean or rude because WE GET EXPENSIVE AND WONDERFUL GIFTS FOR FREE which is something like WOW, instead of spending lindens on the items we get them for free, so people should try and be more civilized and play fair and nice so we can make the creators the job easy and the creators of the event too. Because we're humans so we should act like it.

  17. Thank you! I collected all the gifts that wanted to get. Because the last time I did not have 500. And now in 1500, I had time!

  21. I think that having the boards react to a group tag to me seems a fair way and it might mean that you have to delete a group but it would be only the group tag of MidnightMadness group that you would be showing to receive a gift ~ am always grateful for the gifts that each of the designers work hard to give us ~

    ReplyDelete
  22. okay so for the gifts that say group tag do we have to join their groups or just the midnight madness group?

    1. If the boards say you have to have that shop's tag then yes, though they're not supposed to do it that way. May need the MMM group tag this round. I'm not sure how Apple has it set up.

  23. Some of us can't be here at midnight and the boards fill up so fast, that those of us in other time zones can't really participate. Midnight is 2 AM for me and 3 AM for my sister. That is not a time I/we am/are normally here and can be here to hover. The event is 12 hours long, but the boards fill up within a few hours. It kinda leans towards people in ONLY the SL timezone who are here at midnight, which, in itself leaves a lot of other people out who can't be here even then. Then we have to free up space in our groups to make room for each of these stores, to be able to click the board... WHEN the boards work... IF we can get into the sim at all... Making it for the MM group ONLY would help. I am not sure why there is a limit to the number of people that get to click the board is, in the first place. Minimum? Yeah... but limit? SL wide? With 60,000 people logged into the SL grid at anytime? When it's purpose is most likely to draw in people to the stores and get them to be regulars? Seems counter productive to me. I already have the feeling of "why bother" after just one round.

  24. It would be wonderful if all the stores had the script reading booter... too many people ignore the wishes of the event developers and show up with such heavy scripting that they knock others out. I also want to thank the amazing generous designers for the wonderful gifts, worth all the pain of trying to get them... thank you Apple May

  25. This event gets better and better, thanks to the Creators and their patience with people who still want to come in wearing pets, add ons and are high script/high arc... Thank you for the Orbs that send these people out whilst the folks willing to co-operate make this one of the swiftest and enjoyable events. Gifts are amazing... Apple i still think you should make a little apple avatar that we can wear that is totally low script and arc lol. Love to all creators xoxox

  28. Thank you for the work involved in these events. I know it's tremendous. I just feel sad that when I click and click i get more than one gift, leaving someone out! If there was a way to only give one per person? I don't mean to keep clicking but I can't get it to respond with a crowd... Maybe someone can tell me how to avoid double gifting myself.
