Midnight Madness March
Below is a full alphabetized gallery of the items available at the March round of Midnight Madness starting March 4th at midnight (Friday into Saturday.. so technically March 5th). This round, there will be TWO gifts and TWO times that each board goes live. One gift will go live at midnight (1500 gift limit) and the other will go live at noon (SLT) on Saturday (also 1500 gift limit). Click the store names under the product photo for a quick teleport there.
Great stuff shame its been moved back 24hours
ReplyDeleteShame? more ppl will get it >.<'
DeleteMoving it makes it better not worse ! A great idea just got better !
DeleteI'm not sure it matters when it happens, Natalie. The design of this thing appears to be setting it up to be another crap show.
ReplyDeleteDon't get me wrong, I appreciate the effort put into both the gifts and the event, but designing it in a way that requires everyone that wants an item to try to rush into a parcel/sim at once just isn't going to work in SL, the system can't handle it and I imagine it will just make almost everyone involved frustrated. It doesn't help that for some of the items if you want the full set (looking at you, Dead Dollz) you have to dedicate your entire day to the event by making sure you get in both at Midnight and then again at Noon.
Look, I get it. They want to impose unnecessary scarcity onto the items so as to create exclusivity. But they are excluding too many people based on reasons that are out of a large portion of the population's control. Heck, some people will probably lose sleep over this. And some people just won't be able to get in because they don't have the best setup on their computers. They've succeeded in creating demand, but it's at a rather frustrating cost.
I really think they should just make it a one day event. A full 24 hours for people to come in and get the item, no limits beyond that. Given that it's just a single day, and considering that the large majority of gifting events on SL are weeks or even months long, all the items would still be really quite rare and exclusive, without putting stress both on parcels and on people.
It's just a suggestion, of course, and maybe there's better ones out there. But... I think there's serious flaws with the current method this event is using.
Either way! I don't want this to get lost in the message. Some of these items look great, and I want to give a special nod to Apple May Designs who (I think) put this together for us. I think it needs a few tweaks, but AMD is super awesome regardless for setting it up.
Hi there!
DeleteYes the event is still a work in progress and some of the issues you stated are being thought of. What makes this event unique IS the unique number of gifts and opportunity to get it. It creates an excitement that's lost when the gift is too easily picked up. The vibe of the MM group is lively, chatty and constantly updating. Why would that happen if everyone could merely stop by and tap the board? Where would the fun in that be?
So you see, it's a delicate balance of fun and exclusivity but yet not making people want to rip their hair out. It also sets goals for customers... what do they want more? The whole set from one store or an item from another store. They have to set priority and have the thrill of trying to get all 15 pieces. That's the main reason why there's isn't a larger list of participating designers each round. Now THAT would be hard to collect all the gifts.
To conclude, I completely understand what you're saying and have thought of the same thoughts myself, but always come back to the same conclusion. I want to keep it fun, eventful, and exclusive. So it's hard to combine a world of total fairness and still achieve those things but do know that I am trying :D
Your efforts are clearly seen, and appreciated. Thank you for the well written reply as well. That balance can be quite difficult to hit, and definitely look forward to seeing where the event heads in the future. ^_^
DeleteI hope my message didn't seem too critical. I'm trying to be a positive and helpful voice while voicing concerns I've seen people have in a polite and respectful manner. Now go get some sleep, please, ya need it after today, and we all want you to stay healthy!
Hello Sarali, I am sorry that you don't appreciate the gift I am offering. I understand what you say, that you have to dedicate your entire day to the event, but, please consider that I dedicated more than an entire day to create that item, which is not just a recolor of an old dress that is not selling much, but a brand new, exclusively created original mesh item, which will never be sold again in my store or at another event. This means is a real exclusive creation, being given away for free. I personally find it a great deal :)
ReplyDeleteJust making sure you know many of us appreciate all of you designers!
DeleteAs do I. I do appreciate the the gift you're offering, Kiddo, and I was not criticizing the gift in the previous message. I'm sorry that it was misinterpreted as a lack of appreciation for the gift itself. The gift is really well made. It's unfortunate that it's no mod, but the design of it is fantastic. I'm sorry that part of the message got lost. I do not wish to appear ungrateful for the gift, or to downplay how good they look and the effort that went into making them.
DeleteI'm simply attempting to offer constructive criticism as to the unique delivery method chosen for the event, so as to try and make it as pleasant an event possible for the largest number of people, while not losing out on the core spirit of the event. I understand that, as AMD so eloquently stated up above, it is indeed a delicate balance to hit between fun and exclusivity. It's a hard target to hit. This round was definitely improved over the last one. It's clear thought and due process is definitely going into how to get things working smoothly, I'm just, personally, not sure the sweet spot has entirely been found yet. But I am well aware that my opinion may not be the right one, but I felt compelled to share just because I saw all the stress this event was causing friends of mine.
sounds like a great idea and the stuff looks awesome ..I am not one of the followers for this event but i have been trying like hell all day 9 as has many others in the Lumae group ) to get on sim to buy a skin .. since you are not the only stores on the sim it would be nice if you thought about your other neighbors who have stores and are making no incme because their customers cannot get onto the sim ... this like i said is a grand idea but it looks like your board slappers are staying on sim to get the noon draw as well which is effecting other stores and shoppers not involved with your event. only one day yes but thats one day other stores are not making money, maybe if you rented a stand alone sim like gatcha fairs do or cme up with a hud so they can hit boards from another sim and put all the boards there i dont know just tryng to come up with a solution as a custmer of another store not involved
DeleteI love the idea to this and the wonderful gifts that are set up . Yes its a bit crazed but that is the fun part of it . Think about this when an event opens up tons of people try to get into a sim to get it granted you have almost a full month with those to grab it , but with this its a one time thing personally i love it and im sure the issues will get fixed as the event goes on . It would be a bit too easy if it was set up to come and slap it and not have to try and get the limited amount of them that are available . One day will not kill people and i think its fun :) . Thank you to everyone who is participating in this event !

ReplyDeleteI'd just like to put in my two cents that I love the way this works. It's madness. It's called Monthly Midnight MADNESS...it's meant to be chaotic and a pain to get all the items. That's the POINT of it. :) I love the whole idea of it and I WILL be staying up late to get my hands on the gifts that the creators put their time into to support this event. Am I losing sleep......? Yes. Do I do so gladly......? Yes. It's like Black Friday once a month.......only it doesn't cost a thing to get the beautiful items that people created with love JUST for this event in the spirit of fun and chaos. Thanks everyone. ^^
ReplyDeleteThank you Drea!
DeleteYou're welcome. -hands over fried rice with a wink-

ReplyDeleteMy computer wont be able to handle it and I'll get booted but the items look wonderful and I wish everyone the best of luck. Have fun!!!
ReplyDeletetry going later than when it first opens ... I did that and I didn't have any issues re lag etc if you can hugs
DeleteHi. on board can be pressed several times, so one person can take the same Gift several times. And the other is less likely to get it
ReplyDeleteI was going to type the same as sapa I accidental click twice on one board and I got two I declined the second one, is there away you can fix it please. I think the times is much fairer for everyone now plus two boards, but the danger is people camping for the second board?
DeleteI loved the teleport hud. It made things so much easier for me to be in and out of others way and to vary the order. Great job ! I like the staggered hours. I do want to chime in on the vendors giving two things and counting them. Anyway to stop that would help the system stay fair. GREAT JOB and thanks to all the wonderful creators for their gifts !!
ReplyDeletenods to Drea - and thats really the point isnt it? I read a comment earlier that just kind of rubbed me the wrong way. Anyone who can find it in themselves to complain that they might not get all of not one session but both? because they invested an entire day needs to consider maybe ... getting a life, being a bit more thankful? i dont know ... at the very least get over it and count your blessings. Super event and Ive had so many of my friends run out and buy things i got last time because they missed it and loved what i picked up. and fyi ... i had no trouble getting around to each spot and I started out a bit late so im not sure what the fuss is about anyway.
ReplyDeleteand PS ... thank youuuu!
DeleteVery happy with all the wonderful gifts, thank you to everyone involved in making this event happen.
ReplyDeletePPL that complain dont have the idea how MM's works! Im very happy about the fact they'r putting 2 boards with 12 hrs diffence allowing alot more ppl get the gift from the MM's not to mention it got moved a day so this get into the weekend but YET still PPL complain...srls <,<'
ReplyDeleteAnyways! THNK U Apple for the event, and Tyvm to all the stores to make it possible!
Dee
Great, fun event, despite occasional glitches. The best part is - anyone who doesn't like anything about it doesn't have to participate at all! If the designers said - you have to stand on your head for a month to get this - it would still be perfectly within their rights, nobody has to follow.
ReplyDeleteIt's just another way of paying for the items - in your time and effort, instead of money. And if it's too expensive - well, it's only pixel clothes, we can live without it. :)
This is a valid point. Nobody has to attend the event at all. But I think that would make a lot of people sad if that happened, and wouldn't be very good for the stores or the customers.
DeleteIt would be best if the event could bring the most positive experience possible to the world, that's all.
thank you for the wonder gifts all the makers made I didn't go for everyone but some I liked and knew I would use and it gave others the chance to get what they wanted and use. thanks for this wonder mm round :)
ReplyDeleteThe fact of the matter is, there seem to be a lot more people who really like and enjoy the event than those who are constantly finding something to gripe about. If you go around waiting for life to be fair, you're going to be sorely disappointed and bitter in the end. The items in this event are supposed to be exclusive.. the very nature of exclusivity means that it's not fair. That's the fun. Sometimes it's frustrating, sometimes you don't get the things that you wanted. But that's life. We don't all always get everything we want. Apple May and the other designers work hard on this event. All of them were very successful before this event was even a thing, so they don't NEED to do it. As someone else said, those that don't like the way this event is run don't actually have to participate. No one is twisting your arm.. and trust me there are plenty of people who will still line up every month to try and collect the gifts that are offered and not complain if they don't manage to get all they wanted.
ReplyDeleteA few hours after the start of the event it was easy to get the items. Thanks for the wonderful presents. :)
